OUR MISSION

“To know the love of Jesus Christ, and pass it on”

But what does that mean?

TO KNOW THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST
There is a difference between “Knowing” and “Knowing of” something. When it comes to the love that Jesus demonstrates time and time again in scripture, it becomes too easy to claim “Christianity” and be satisfied with only “knowing of” the love of Christ. Being satisfied with a basic “knowledge of” Jesus’s love and seeking nothing else is a misrepresentation of what it means to be a follower of Christ. It’s head knowledge. It won’t change your life. It wont help the world.

On the other hand, knowing the love of Jesus on an intimate level is life changing. It should inspire us to act in such a way that makes the world a better place.

AND PASS IT ON

So what does it mean to be inspired to act in faith? What does that actually look like?

We interpret this as having four key components.

Connect.

Love.

Serve.

Support.

CONNECT

First and foremost, everything is precious and everyone has intrinsic worth. We see it as our mission to connect with our neighbors in the best way possible. Everyone is worthy of basic rights, respect, and hospitality. We want to know your story. Everyone is worthy of connection.

Love is not limited by romantic relationships, deep friendships, or even family based relationships. While yes, love is present in those, we view the love of Jesus as something that supersedes all of that. It’s a love that actively seeks and recognizes everyone else’s worth and acts on it. It’s opening our eyes to the world. It’s patience. It’s peace. It’s healing. It’s understanding that we are all different and we all come from a different story & background and it’s all beautiful. We are all better together.

LOVE

SERVE

That same love that prompts us to look around and recognize intrinsic worth in every human also inspires us to act in a way to make sure the world knows that they have intrinsic worth. It means feeding those that got dealt a tough hand by life. It means standing up for injustice. It means advocating for the oppressed. It means giving people second chances. It means walking alongside healing. It means being an excellent customer at a restaurant. It means being a responsible consumer. It means recycling and being a mindful caretaker of our planet.

Lastly, we seek to support each other. We seek to put our money where our mouth is. We do our best to play an active role with Maitland’s agenda to make Maitland a great, clean, safe, and friendly community. We support our neighbors. We support our first responders. We are all in this together and we are better and stronger because of it.
