Weekly Update // Pastor Will

Dear Asbury Family,

It’s hard to believe, but as I sit down to write this, I find myself writing my final weekly email to you — and that’s not easy. This is truly a bittersweet moment. Serving as one of your pastors over the last four years has been one of the greatest joys and honors of my life. It has shaped me, stretched me, and filled me with gratitude beyond words. I will carry the memories, relationships, and lessons from Asbury with me for the rest of my life.

What I’ll remember most is the beautiful variety of ministry I’ve been blessed to be part of — from baptisms and welcoming new members to growing with the youth and watching different ministries flourish. It’s hard to name specific moments without feeling like I’d be leaving something out, because the truth is, this community has made the experience whole. Week after week, I’ve experienced a fullness in ministry that’s hard to put into words, but it has left a lasting mark on my heart.

As you receive this note, I’ll be on my way to Lakeland for the Florida Annual Conference — a gathering of United Methodist clergy and lay leaders where we worship, reflect, and make decisions together as we continue seeking God’s guidance for our churches. I’d be grateful for your prayers during this important time of discernment.

This Sunday, we will have one combined service at 10:30 AM in the Sanctuary, and I hope you’ll join us. It will be a time to worship together, give thanks to God, and celebrate all that we’ve shared in ministry. My family and I will be there, and we’d love the chance to see you, hug your necks, and share a moment of joy and gratitude. After worship, we’ll gather for a light reception — nothing fancy, just a time to connect, enjoy some refreshments, and say “see you later.”

As I step into this next chapter, my heart is full of hope for Asbury’s future. This church is filled with compassionate, faithful, and gifted people — and I truly believe the best days are still ahead. Thank you for the gift of letting me be your pastor.

 With deep love and gratitude,

Will
